Identification

An imitation pearl

A new day, a new challenge ! This diamond (from a parcel of 😎 showed strong green transmittance (or actually emittance), and it grew stronger when approaching the grading lamp... Microscopic examination revealed graphitization of the inclusions, and the green transmission eminating from the graining planes. On top of that a characteristic strong 'chalky' greenish fluorescence. Further advanced testing revealed the stones to be IaAB (in FTIR) and in UV-VIS-NIR clearly H3 responsable for the green transmission. But most interesting is the analysis of the N platelets in Infra-Red at approximate 1560 cm-1. Deconvolution of the peak and the Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) clearly showes they are all treated by High Pressure and High Temperature (The '+' symbols) ! 1 (rare) natural green-transmitter as reference sample, shows natural. Thanx to Erwin Aelbrecht for the deconvolutions !
